Ponkandam is 6 Kms away from Mangalam Dam. We bought a plot there and existing Bangalow was renovated and blessed on 3rd July 1981 with the name San Thome Convent. Most of the people in this area are migrated from other places and there was no co-operative effort to look after them. So our main task was to grow spiritual and moral values in the people and prepare them for receiving sacraments. Now there are 5 sisters and formees. Sisters teach Catechism, do the parish work and visit houses of the parishioners. Sundays they go to other centers also. Two of the sisters go to Lourde Matha Hr. Sec. School, Mangalam Dam.This house is one of the formetion house.
